Canadians are surprisingly disdainful of the US in a lot of ways, contemporary events aside, often voicing opinions like "the Yanks are too brash" and "Thanksgiving should be on a Monday in October." But Canadians also study the US closely thanks to the unstoppable spigot of media about which CanCon can only do so much. So there's an affinity in familiarity, bolstered by the fact that people here genuinely love a lot of people there in countless ways – as family, friends, friendquaintances, and fans. They also appreciate some of the American originals that Canada simply cannot match, which include (and may be limited to) Target, Trader Joe's, and Spindrift seltzer. It's an emotionally turbulent time!

On a more serious note, the situation in DC vis a vis the National Guard patrolling the streets is fucking awful. Where are the trucker convoys now?
