Amerisplaining current Canadian events to anyone curious
I heard Mary Beth Barone on Lovett or Leave It saying how she’s noticed how knowledgeable Canadians are about US news and current events, whereas Americans tend to know relatively little about Canada’s day to day. That’s been my experience too. Once when the Raptors were on their 2019 NBA Championship run, there was a poll asking US viewers who would win it all: the Warriors, the Trailblazers, the Bucks, or ‘Other.’
I’m an American lawyer by birth and training, and moved to Toronto in 2021 with my dual-citizen husband, where we have a dual-citizen kid. I have been learning a ton about the city and the country, especially as to general history and historical memory, Canadian law, and the news. I am going to take a run here at offering some American-tainted takes on Canadian stuff for anyone who might be interested in such a thing.
